Some of the very best in food, fashion and lifestyle programming were honored at the 7th Annual TASTE AWARDS at San Francisco’s historic Castro Theater on February 11th. GEV was there to congratulate the winners and rub elbows with the food and fashion glitterati who came to celebrate.

The Awards Show featured a star-studded lineup, including celebrity presenters Brian Boitano (Food Network, HGTV), Bobby Bognar (History Channel, Bio Channel), Jolene Sugarbaker (YouTube), Marisa Churchill (Bravo’s Top Chef, Author), Bret Harris (Indiegogo), Jake Wall (Project Runway), Carolyn Scott-Hamilton (The Healthy Voyager), Alyssia Sheikh (Mind Over Munch), Phillip Gums (Food Network), Dominique Crenn (Top Chef), Isabelle LaRue (YouTube) and more. Winners were presented in all categories including Viewers Choice, Best Of Show, Honorees and Hall of Fame Inductees. The after party celebration offered small bites and drinks from notable Bay Area restaurants and wineries such as Scotland Yard, The Lunchpad, Sol Food, Two Jack’s Seafood, Sauce Restaurant, Twisted Roots, Rosa d’Oro Vineyards and R&B Cellars.

We were particularly delighted to see GEV cover stars, Dominique Crenn (Issue 6) and Marisa Churchill (Issue 12) in attendance. We caught up with Marisa who shared a few details about the new season of her cooking/reality show, ‘My Sweet and Skinny Life‘ on Greece’s Alpha TV. The series is filmed on location in Greece and California and emphasizes delicious, guilt-free desserts made with Mediterranean staples such as Greek yogurt, apricots and honey. For U.S. viewers, episodes may be found on YouTube (Alpha TV Channel); we’ve only seen Episode 1 and it’s addictive.

We also plan to track down two noteworthy winners: Caffeinated, a documentary about coffee told through the perspectives of people who have dedicated their lives to it and The Artisans of Italy, a web travel series that seeks out culinary artisans across Italy.
